Congrats Vernon On A Great Career

I just want to take a moment to say congratulations to Vernon Davis on an amazing career. He came into the league the first year I started playing fantasy football. I remember wanting my Broncos to draft him with the 11th overall pick, but he was taken by the 49ers at the 6th pick. The highest a Tight End has ever been taken in an NFL draft. I was amazed by his insane athletic ability. He set the record for the fastest 40-time by a Tight End with a 4.38 time. He was a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Which explains his number 10 ranking in all time receiving yards by a tight end. He was one of only 3 players from the first round of the 2006 NFL draft to still be playing in the NFL this year. One lesson I did learn that year was to not draft a rookie tight end to be your TE1. He was very hit or miss for me and finished as the TE26 that year. Over the past 10 seasons, only Evan Ingram and Rob Gronkowski have been able to finish as TE1’s during their rookie season. Keep that in mind when you’re looking at drafting during the 2020 season.
