DO NOT DRAFT Daniel Jones

Dynasty Guide with Top 300 Rankings and Top 50 Rookie Rankings

I've learned over my 15 years of playing fantasy football, that when drafting, it's good to look at the early season matchups. Often times, players who are valued very high by the fantasy community, are valued that way based on what they are expected to do for the upcoming season. However, sometimes schedule can hurt that player early on, and you may be able to get that player in a trade or on waivers after the first few games of the season. That's the case for Daniel Jones this year. There isn't a quarterback with a worse start to the season than Jones. He is basically un-startable for the first month of the season. His schedule starts out:

  1. vs Pittsburgh
  2. @ Chicago
  3. vs San Francisco
  4. @ LA Rams

All four of those teams ranked in the the Top 10 at preventing QBs from racking up fantasy points. QB's averaged a lousy 15 points per game vs those teams. Week 5's matchup at Dallas isn't much better. The Cowboys were the 12th best at limiting QBs.

Daniel Jones

Now....after that first month of the season, I would try to trade for him. I'd do it just before the Dallas game. That's assuming he hasn't been dropped and then you can just grab him off waivers. After week 5, the schedule becomes a quarterbacks dream with games vs Tampa, Cincinnati, Arizona and two vs Washington. Baltimore is the only rough matchup for the final 12 games of the season. Take my advice, and pass on Jones in your draft. I'd prefer to draft a QB like Matt Stafford, Ryan Tannehill, Cam Newton or Jared Goff who are all going after him and then try to get Jones after the first month of the year.
