Locked in QB1?

Did you know, since 2000, eight quarterbacks have rushed for over 700 yards. And of those eight, seven have finished as top-five quarterbacks. Michael Vick’s 2010 season was the 10th most rushings yards during that span, and he finished as the QB1 that season....in 12 games. Also, looking at it from a points per game perspective, the worst finish was Vick in 2004 when he finished as the QB13. If you just take the games Lamar Jackson started, he was on pace for 1,270 rushing yards. That’s over 200 more rushing yards than Vick’s NFL record 1,039. Lamar easily has Top 5 potential, and I think at worst he is in the QB12-13 range. He is currently being drafted around QB18 according to FantasyPros. SIGN ME UP!

Using these same historical rushing numbers, Josh Allen could also be a great value. Allen rushed for 631 yards last season in 12 games which extrapolates out to 841 yards on the season. That would put him in a similar high-floor/high-ceiling territory as Jackson. The only concern I have with Allen is that a lot of his yards came from scrambling and not designed runs, which are not as sticky year to year. However, if he were to get say 500 rushing yards this season, that would very likely be a value at where he is being drafted. He has a current ADP of QB22. The worst finish by a QB in the above-mentioned timeframe was actually Allen at QB19….his rookie season. I would look to target both of these QBs later in your drafts.
