CeeDee Lamb Dynasty Outlook
Hey everyone. I’ve been cranking through my dynasty guide and one of the things I’m working on is a Dynasty Rating for each player that rates the individual player’s talent and their team circumstances. I give a score similar to that of an Amazon review. It’s still a work in progress, but something I’m excited to bring to you next month. One player who scored high was Dallas WR CeeDee Lamb, who my friend @fantasypollsnow is also a fan of...here’s his thoughts on the talented WR.
CeeDee Lamb is going to be the next “big” dynasty breakout. He’s hardly kept a secret, but I am still actively attempting to trade for Lamb in all my dynasty leagues. Here’s why:
To start, Lamb was great as a rookie. In fact, he finished as the WR20 in weeks 1-16 (PPR formats). Now, that isn’t exactly mind boggling, but consider the fact he only had Dak Prescott for 5 games. He played much of the season with Andy Dalton, but even had games with Ben Dinucci and Garrett Gilbert. The fact he was a top-20 WR is insane!
In fact, let’s look at Lamb’s stats without Gilbert and Dinucci. Taking out week 8 (Dinucci started) and week 9 (Gilbert started), Lamb would have averaged 13.86 PPG with just Dalton and Dak. There is no denying the effect that losing Dak had on this offense, but this just shows that Lamb was able to produce without Dak, which is good for his dynasty outlook.
Now, let’s look at his stats with Dak Prescott at QB. In his five games with Dak, Lamb averaged 17.1 PPR PPG and 8 targets a game. Yes, the Cowboys offense was throwing a TON and was very good in those first 5 weeks. But still, this is Lamb’s first five weeks in the NFL, and he was already playing as a top-10 WR. If you expand these five games over a full fantasy season (weeks 1-16), Lamb would finish with 256.5 PPR points and as the WR8, ahead of fellow rookie WR Justin Jefferson. I definitely value Jefferson a lot higher, and he didn’t get going until a few games in. But still, this is very impressive.
I’m expecting more of the same, if not better, from Lamb in 2021 and beyond. We typically see WRs make a massive sophomore jump (think AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Diontae Johnson) and I am fully expecting Ceedee Lamb to do just that. This 2020 WR class is special (look at Jefferson, Lamb, Claypool, Higgins, and more). Lock him in as a WR1 in dynasty leagues and acquire him where you can.
